Epilogue — One Step Each Day

Your visit is now drawing to a close.

The Confucian classic The Doctrine of the Mean contains these words:
“If another succeeds with one effort, I will make a hundred efforts. If another succeeds with ten, I will make a thousand.”

It describes a way of going on: slower than others, perhaps, but never stopping.

The path of a crown prince was not completed in a single day.

It meant looking again at what he had learned the day before.

Reading one more passage today.

Thinking it through once more.

And returning, the next day, to the same place.

Day after day, these small acts accumulated, gradually preparing one person for the role that lay ahead.

One Step at a Time.

The path to becoming king.

Thank you for walking that path with us today.
